MVPI stations receives all types of trucks and trailers that are subject to inspection according to regulations of the General Department of Traffic. Therefore, you must bring both cab and trailer

When do I bring my vehicle for inspection?
Vehicles should be inspected annually, and before the expiration of the inspection certificate with a sufficient time to ensure they are free from any technical issues, taking into account that MVPI Stations receive any vehicle whose owner wishes to check, in any of the following cases:
When traveling.
When buying or selling a vehicle.
When noticing a technical issue.
When wanting to discover technical issues.
Inspecting the vehicle after repair following a traffic accident.
When making a modification to the engine, chassis, or color.
The used vehicles registered in another country, if the owner wishes to obtain Saudi plates.
Before any traffic action.

When are new vehicles subject to inspection?
The periodic inspection of new private vehicles is made three years after the first vehicle license is obtained and then inspected annually. For taxis, buses, and public transport vehicles, the inspection is made two years after the first vehicle license is obtained and then annually. However, MVPI accepts any vehicle for inspection as per customer request.

Can a vehicle carrying a non-Saudi plate be inspected?
Yes, any vehicle carrying a non-Saudi plate can be brought to inspection stations, once vehicle information document has been submitted.

Yes, the imported vehicles can be inspected as soon as the original Customs card, issued upon entry into the Kingdom, is presented.

What should I do after receiving the report with vehicle issues?
MVPI will provide every customer with full fails items report detected on inspection, in case of any inquiry please proceed to Information office at MVPI station.

It is caution for light vehicles and compulsory for heavy vehciles.

Is there a fine for late submission of the vehicle for inspection?
The periodic inspection does not impose fines on late submission of the vehicle for inspection. However, failure to annually renew periodic inspection certificate of vehicle is deemed a violation of regulations of the Traffic Department, and results in traffic violations.

It is permissible to apply for technical inspection with only one plate present on the vehicle, provided that the loss report from concerned authorities is presented.

What are the documents required for vehicle inspection?
First: Appointment confirmation. Second: Vehicle owner ID. Third: Vehicle registration license or GTD print out or digital license from mobile.
Fourth: Presentation of Vehicle authorization permit from vi.vsafety.sa platform, except those who are authorized through Abshir or parents and dependents or the vehicle owner or who have legal authorization. Note : Imported vehicle must present original custom card.

Inheritors can do inspection of a dead person's vehicle upon presenting of legal authorization.

Is authorization compulsory for vehicle inspection? and how to book an appointment for inspection?
It is compulsory to have an appointment before visiting MVPI station and you can authorize any person through periodic inspection platform, except for those who are authorized through Abshir, inspection of parent’s vehicles, sponsor vehicle, or the actual users on vehicle registration or have legal authorization. When I am waiting in the lane and handing over my vehicle to the inspector, what should I do?
When waiting in the inspection lane, the driver must remove all valuables from vehicle and head to side pedestrian lane until inspection process is completed.

Is it possible to re-apply for vehicle inspection at a station other than the one at which the previous inspection was carried out?
You can make re inspection of your vehicle at any MVPI station.

My vehicle passed the inspection, but I cannot find the inspection information on Absher.
Vehicle data is transferred automatically to Abshir, sometimes data will not be reflected to the system due to non compliance of vehicle data on registration license with actual data on the vehicle or inspection report or due to technical issued like communications problems. vehicle data on registration license should be compared with data on inspection report.
If the fault on registration license, please refer to GTD for correction.
If the fault on inspection report please proceed to MVPI to correct the data at customer service and select Abshir.

What is the allowed period for re inspection of my vehicle? Is there any fees?
The owner of vehicle is allowed to re inspect the vehicle twice within 14 working days, only fail items will be checked unless new defects are detected , re inspection fees will be paid by customer. Upon completion of 14 working days customer have to pay full fees and vehicle will be inspected in full.

How do l know the inspection report validity?
Inspection validity is one year, and you can identify that by:
Inspection sticker, or inspection report.

is the availability of inspection's sticker on vehicle compulsory?
It is compulsory to fix the sticker on the front windscreen , to avoid traffic violation.
